I was 44 years old
when I became a foster parent.

In February 2020,
two boys, ages 5 and 14,
moved into my home.

Three weeks later,
the world shut down.

I thought parenting would mostly be about helping two boys heal.

What I discovered was that their stories kept bumping into my own.

The moments I struggled most often had as much to do with what I was carrying as what they were carrying.

The realization became this book.
Inside the Book
This is not a parenting manual full of perfect answers.

It's a collection of stories, reflections, practical exercises, and honest conversations about what happens when our children's hurt meets our own.

Each chapter includes:
  • A personal story
  • Guided reflection questions
  • Practical exercises you can begin using right away
